| The
Exmoor Community Computer Centre is a charitable trust, which was established
in 1997 to provide enhanced educational opportunities for the many communities
of Exmoor, and also to provide improved facilities for social welfare
and recreation. With help from the local, district, and county councils
plus a number of government funding bodies (English Partnership, Greater
Exmoor Leader and the Rural District Council) the Trust purchased the
redundant Winsford First School in January 1998 which had been closed
for two years. Restoration and conversion began in March of the same
year and the Centre opened in the June.
The
Centre provides regular tutored courses covering an amazing range of
training.
People
are welcome to use the Centre on a casual basis for computer hire and
internet access. For those in full-time education there is no charge.
The
premises have been designed to cater for everybody's needs, with easy
access for wheelchairs and separate disabled toilet facilities. Additional
support can be provided when needed.
The
Centre is also the home of the Exmoor Community Complementary Therapy
Centre. A Doctor's Surgery is held weekly, and a range of alternative
therapies are available on a weekly or fortnightly basis. These are:
Beauty Therapy, Homeopathy, Medical Herbalism, Osteopathy and Shiatsu
Treatment.
In
addition, the Centre houses facilities for meetings, conferences, exhibitions
and alternative non-computer studies. Business services such as photocopying,
fax,and internet access are also available.
The
Centre employs a Manager who is available during opening hours for advice
and assistance in selecting the right training and support. |
